A friction welded heat sink is formed by welding two similar or dissimilar extruded materials (typically extruded aluminum or aluminum alloys) by the friction welding technique. This technique realizes an ultra wide structure and an ultrahigh density so as to satisfy the high power cooling needs. A friction welded heat sink looks exactly the same as a typical extruded heat sink but with a larger dimension and higher cooling capacity.
